KEEP CALM BEFORE YOUR BIG DAY

Updated: Feb 9, 2023

Wedding Guru Priti Raichura shares her tips for when it all gets too much.

Planning a wedding is voted one of the most stressful events to plan and it’s easy to see why. If you’re currently in the midst of planning your big day, I feel your pain!

In any situation, having family and friends that support your vision is key. Round up the troops and assign tasks to all. The smallest detail will require input from either the couple or wedding party, so here are some tips to help you get started:

  • Put together a spreadsheet

  • Create the guestlist

  • Is there a theme? Plan the material required

  • List your contacts and helpers for the pre-wedding and the actual big day

  • Create an itinerary for the day, including timings

  • Keep a written note of suppliers

If it’s getting too chaotic, ensure to take a little down time to allow yourself to enjoy the process. Here’s a few activities to help you slow down and gather your thoughts:

Spa break: Take the time to pamper yourself and loved ones. A growing trend is to spend a hen weekend at a spa and relax before the big day arrives.

Dinner: Plan a meal where no wedding talk is permitted.

Mediation: Calm your mind and allow for a peaceful night’s sleep.

Talk: Find someone you can confide in with any issues.

Gym: Working out at the gym is a great way to destress and why not take a friend along with you.

Everyone reacts to stress differently, so explore the different options above to find out what suits you. Remember, stress lines are the last thing you want showing up on your big day. Take things slow and don’t be afraid to ask for help when needed. If external help is required, then I’d advise approaching a highly trusted or recommended wedding supplier, to put your mind at ease. It’s YOUR wedding so make it one to remember!
